The atmosphere of this album is fantastic. Makes you feel like you're knee-deep in the trenches drenched in mud, filth, sweat, and blood. Truly encapsulates the horrors of World War I, and the fact that the lyrics of some of the songs are taken from old war letters really adds to the authenticity. Simple Black Metal with great atmosphere. Other than the studio version of "For the Glory of Satan" the live version (digital versions only) really rocks! One of the rare tracks that together with "Gut the church" have burned themselves into my brain and I can't get them out anymore. Heathen Deity might be one of the most underrated BM bands of all times, delivering 2 tracks that should be on every BM playlist.
